at Chrysler Corporation wants to admit to this, but this picture is the
only surviving image of the original prototype for the 300. This alleged
car was developed in late 1952 by
Chrysler Engineer Waldo "Wild Man" Stupidowsky, inset above.
It was originally called the C200, because $200.00 was Waldo's
original budget. I think he did a good job considering what he had to
work with, mentally and otherwise. The C200 was able to get 0-60 in
three days, and finished the quarter mile sometime during the month of
September. Notice the 331 hemi and the nice wire wheels. All it needed
was a leather seat to go with the buzzard poop, and it would have sold
like crazy. Sorry, Waldo, no offense. Whereabouts of the original
prototype, like Waldo, are unknown. |
