don't really like to pick on anybody, but here's a guy you want to avoid.
His name is "Smiling Benny" Durfmann, and he is pictured here
with his beautiful "frame up' restoration project, a 300E which he
will soon be bringing to a national 300 Club meet. We wish him well. Word
has it that Benny took a 20,000 mile original unmolested car and turned it
into the beauty you see pictured here. It features the unique "Iron
Oxide Copper Surprise" paint color, and the interior is, well, the
interior. Benny said he wanted a convertible, but his Sawzall wasn't
working. The engine is Benny's own creation, a transplanted 392 hemi
fitted with ram manifolding. Each runner has a dual quad manifold
mounted to it via adapters, for a grand total of four AFBs on this
wonderful machine. It's a credit to Benny's skill with a torch that he is
able to get the hood closed. We're not sure why the trunk is open, we
really don't want to know. The 392 sends its power to the rear wheels
through a Torqueflite operated by a hand pump. What a dude! Go get 'em,
Benny. Just stay away from my cars.
